What an experience driving out hours into the desert and finding a blooming farm growing on drip irrigation. In the Thar desert is where the real impact of drip irrigation really hit me. Look out for my video on Structures of Sindh coming soon which shows the Pagoda like shacks the people out of here live in – absolutely amazing.

Hi Fezzik:
Thanks so much for the amazing feedback. Please see my latest post, Bonus Post 005 for a quick intro to drip irrigation and the work in Pakistan.
Regards,
Majid.

Perhaps it would be helpful for those of us who aren’t that well versed with the drip irrigation system to give us a quick explanation of it. Maybe a video on how it all works from start to finish would provide us a more complete perspective. There is some documentation on the Acumen Fund’s website, but it isn’t that detailed (and some of us are lazy and like to learn via short videos
). It mostly talks about the beginning problem, and the end results but doesn’t have much on the mechanics in the middle of the actual solution.
Also, I’d be interested in knowing whether any environmentalists have weighed in on the project. The Acumen Fund probably consulted with engineers, farmers, environmentalists and all sorts of experts before launching this project. Documenting their perspectives on the existing state, and outlook for the future may serve as another interesting dimension.
